Romans: Two Tickets to Paradise - Grace and Faith

Romans: Two Tickets to Paradise - Grace and Faith

Nathan Droege

Romans 3:21-31; 4:1-25

A- Snapshot of the Gospel
B- What Faith is (and what faith is not!)
C- Abraham's faith - a not-really-perfect faith

A) Snapshot of the Gospel:
God's righteousness -

all have sinned (Romans 1:18)

faith -

justified -

grace -

propitiation -

one who has faith in Jesus -

What is Faith?

"Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." -

If you work for righteousness, or earn it, or pay for it - it cannot be counted as grace, but is considered a debt!

If you do not work, but rather believe in God (or have faith in God), who justifies the ungodly, then your faith is accounted to you, or credited to you as righteousness!

Faith is not about what you feel and not about what you do or don't do!

Faith is about WHO you believe in, and what HE has done for you and is able to do for you, that you cannot do for yourself!!!

Hebrews 11:6

Faith is about coming to God, believing in Him, and receiving from Him what He has already promised to give you, that you cannot get for yourself! - purpose, provision, protection, peace!!!

C) The Faith of Abraham - Romans 4:18-22 -

"Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all..."

Genesis chapters 12-21 - Abraham's journey of faith

What is faith?

Faith is believing that what God says is true, and believing He is able to do what He has spoken, and that He will do what He has spoken!

The Gospel is God's gift of grace to you, to anyone who will believe in Him, in His word, and in His Son Jesus Christ, whom He has sent!
