The foundation for strong, healthy, lasting relationships - Matthew 7:1-6
What is a "plank?"
"Right relationship with God always leads to right relationship with others!"
Right relationship with God involves God taking things out of our lives:
1- selfishness -
2- fear -
3- pride -
We must give God access to our hearts - to forgive, cleanse, and heal our heart!
Right relationship with God means God adding things into our lives.
Matthew 7:7-14 (V14) "how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him."
-God wants to add into your life a trust in Him -
-God want to add into your life the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ
-God wants to add into your life strong, healthy lasting relationships
How do you tell a strong, healthy, lasting relationship (a good relationship) from a bad one?
Matthew 7:15-20 - By the "fruit" of the relationship!
Galatians 5:24-25 "the fruit of the Spirit is ..."
James 3:13-18 "the wisdom that comes down from above is first pure, peaceable, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits."
You can tell a good relationship from a bad relationship by -
-A good relationship helps our relationship with God!
-A bad relationship hinders our relationship with God!
How to build a strong, healthy, lasting relationship:
Strong, healthy, lasting relationships are built; they do not just happen!
You can build your relationships on the rock, or...
The "Golden Rule" of building relationships -
"whatever you want men to do to you, you also do to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."
-How would YOU want this other person to treat you?
-How would God treat this person?
